The Polar Plunge and the Torch Run are two of Special Olympic's most successful fundraisers. Both
of these events are sponsored and supported throughout the United States, and abroad, benefiting Special Olympic State
and Area organizations each year.
If you have not attended either of these two events, the experience is well worth the time spent, filled
with athlete, family and community involvement and camaraderie.

For the families, businesses and community organizations that provide your financial support, we thank you. Your
assistance and generosity allow our area and state offices to continue offering Special Olympic athletes across the entire
state low cost athletic programs, social opportunities and the feeling of belonging.
We are often asked why Kendall County Special Olympics, as an individual team, "needs more money" when we are fundraising
for our group. In an effort to answer this question, and offer an explanation, a summary of the disbursement of money
raised at both the Polar Plunge and Torch Run are offered below.
Funds Disbursement for Money Raised at the Polar Plunge
Kindly keep in mind that monies donated and financial support that is provided to the Polar Plunge events
across the State go to the local area offices, and not the independent special olympic chapters within the county.
Money raised by the Polar Plunge in Kendall County is forwarded to our area coordinating office.
This money is used to fund our area meets and pay for the various operational and administrative expenses involved in
keeping the area offices, and local team chapters within each area, running smoothly. None of the money raised
at the Polar Plunge is directly provided to Kendall County Special Olympic Team to help us cover our own yearly operating
budget, nor maintain the quality of our program.
If you wish to have your donation or financial support go to specifically benefit the athletes that live within
Kendall County, your donation or financial support needs to be provided directly to Kendall County Special Olympic Team. Donations
made for Kendall County Special Olympic Team, through our local area office or Illinois State offices will not be forwarded
to us.
Funds Disbursement of Money Raised at the Torch Run
Kindly keep in mind that monies donated and financial support that is provided to the Torch Run events
across the State go to the Illniois State Special Olympic offices, and not the independent special olympic chapters within
the county.
Money raised by the Torch Run in Kendall County is forwarded to Illinois Special Olympics. This money is
used to fund our state meets, which includes the provision of housing and food, medical staff, event insurance,
etc., and pay for the various promotional, medical programs, young athlete programs, operational and administrative expenses
involved in keeping Illinois Special Olympics running smoothly. None of the money raised at the Torch Run is
directly provided to Kendall County Special Olympic Team to help us cover our own yearly operating budget nor maintain the
quality of our program.
If you wish to have your donation or financial support go to specifically benefit the athletes that live within
Kendall County, your donation or financial support needs to be provided directly to Kendall County Special Olympic Team.
Donations made for Kendall County Special Olympic Team, through our local area office or Illinois State offices will not
be forwarded to us.
