Founded
and organized in 2000, KCSO's Team Executive Board is made up of thirteen representatives. The board members consist
of parent representatives, coaches and volunteer representatives. Two years ago we established a position for an athlete
representative to have a seat on the board. Board positions are filled as members resign. New members are nominated
by board members and then voted upon in a closed session.
The Executive Board meets monthly in a closed
session to discuss the operational matters relating to our organization. They oversee the management and organization
of the sub-committees, fundraising events, sporting event planning, competition event planning, budgetary and other areas
of business as they arise. Executive Board members may also serve as chairs or co-chairs of it's committees, if appointments
have not been filled for that season. Board members devote an extensive amount of their time, both at meetings and outside
of meetings, towards ensuring that all operations run smoothly and effectively. Their dedication is a driving force
towards KCSO's Team success and continued growth.
Quarterly, the Executive Board meets in a joint
session with the Co-Chairs of it's various Committees to discuss each committee's agendas, status, needs and direction.
There are 5 committees and 9 sub-committees that
fall under the supervision and coordination of the Executive Board.
Parent Committees
Communications
The Communications Committee oversees
effective communication between the organization, it's families and athletes. This includes the publishing of the Team
Newsletter, information flyers, permission slips and brochures.
Uniform
The Uniform Committee oversees the management,
care, storage and inventory of all of our uniforms, clothing and gear bags. This Committee packs athlete bags in preparation
for an event and ensures that sizings for each athlete are correct.
Events
The Event Committee oversees the planning,
arrangement and effective implementation of our events: social, fun and area/state meets. This includes the planning
of meals, snacks, activities, event locations, transportation and ensuring the timely set up/take down of tents and
equipment for return to storage during our sporting events.
Clean Up
This committee oversees the planning
and implementation of ensuring adequate volunteer and staff to perform clean up duties after each of our events.
Fundraising
The Fundraising Committee oversees the
planning, coordination and implementation of each of our fundraisers. For the 2008-2009 year, our fundraisers included:
GFS Holiday Sale; GFS Pie Sale; Best Buy Holiday Wrap; Mongolian Bar B Q Benefit; Chili's Hot Pepper Night; Pampered
Chef catalog sales; Tastefully Simple demonstration and sale and the 5th Annual Family Fun Festival.
Fundraising Sub-Committees
Because of the magnitude of our
Annual Family Fun Festival each July, the Fundraising Committee has multiple sub-committees that work individually and as
a united group with their parent committee towards planning, coordinating and implementing a successful event. These
sub-committees are:
